We are seeking a dynamic, and self-motivated professional with excellent organizational and people skills for the position of Social Research Coordinator at CIMMYT.
The position will be based in Cooch Behar, India.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of project research activities including, but not limited to the implementation of qualitative and quantitative research instruments.
- Lead partner engagement with Rupantar partners and relevant stakeholders in the region.
- Lead project implementation activities and monitoring of study communities.
- Regular reporting and communication with the regional team.
- Travel within the Rupantar study locations as per study mandate.
Required qualifications, skills, and attitudes:
- Masters in relevant areas such as social sciences, rural development in the context of development with at least 2 years post-master experience with field studies related to social science research, or
- Bachelors in a relevant area such as social sciences, rural development in the context of development with at least 5 years post-undergraduate experience with field studies related to social science research,
- Demonstrated experience in implementing open-ended, semi-structured interviews and other qualitative research implements.
- Experience working with government stakeholders and rural farming communities.
- Fluency in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
- The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Critical and Creative Thinking, Teamwork, Communication, and Client Orientation.

The Role
You will be running and supporting both UK and global fast-turnaround (Omnibus, B2B, and targeted sample) research projects on a whole host of topics. You will have support from Senior Research Executives and Research Managers on larger and more complex projects.
The role relies on excellent communication skills; you’ll be working closely with other YouGov teams (Insight, Account Management, New Business) as well as directly with clients to design and deliver research that hits the brief and is clear, unbiased, and stands up to scrutiny (thanks to YouGov’s research’s amazing reputation and media presence).
What will I be delivering?
- Designing and running consumer/business Omnibus (set-sample) surveys, plus Targeted sample research projects (end-to-end project management)
- Working with senior researchers/ Insight specialists on delivery of more complex Custom, Omnibus, Targeted sample, multi-country B2C and B2B domestic research
- Setting up and running International research projects, with senior support on more complex projects
- Delegating questionnaire scripting, coding, and some reporting to junior researchers and colleagues overseas where applicable
- Developing and applying your understanding of research methods, including the principles of good questionnaire design
- Using excellent communication skills to discuss client’s research objectives with clients and colleagues, and to author clear, accurate questionnaires and reports
- Designing analysis, working on reports and presentations, delivering presentations (with senior researcher support on some projects)
- Data analysis and presentation – analyzing and discussing what the research shows and communicating this effectively to clients
- Collaborating with colleagues to quality-check, design, and deliver projects from start-to-finish
- Collaborating with account managers and salespeople, costing proposed projects, and attending client meetings as a research representative
- Responding to fast-turnaround client requests, writing quotes and proposals to win projects
- Learning and using technical systems – logging client activity, saving all records of project communications, and using YouGov software platforms to script surveys and deliver results to our clients
What do I need to bring with me?
Demonstrated knowledge and experience
- Quantitative research experience in a client-facing role
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver results, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively
- Problem-solving, analytical and numerical skills
Technical skills and qualifications
- Educated up to degree / HND level in a relevant (e.g. social sciences, English) subject desirable, or industry experience/recognized qualification such as the MRS Advanced Certificate, etc.
- Understanding statistics and quantitative analysis is desirable
